There was plenty to lust after on the spring 2017 runways (from botanical prints to sculptural shirting and deconstructed denim), but translating those moment-making pieces into looks you’ll actually wear can be tricky.
You can see three trends how editors spotted this season:
2.and denim skirts
3.and printed boots
found fresh ways to wear each of them.
THE KHAKI PANT
It’s time to reconsider khakis—these are nothing like the cargos you wore in middle school.
Keep your khakis cool with a sporty bomber jacket and a hip little clutch. Opt for slip-on sneakers that veer sleek rather than gym-ready.
Don’t let the color fool you—khaki pants can be just as chic as traditional black once the sun goes down. Just add a metallic shoe, bold earrings, and a standout top.
Beige pants stand in for trousers when paired with suede,pointy-toe pumps and ladylike bag.Look for a blouse with floaty, gathered sleeves for femininity that tempers the khaki’s tomboy feel.
THE DENIM SKIRT
Chances are, you’ve already got this staple deep in your closet. This season, it made a comeback.
A striped button-down feels playful when worn off-the-shoulder, and colorful sneakers look chic while keeping you comfortable during a busy day.
Elevate a denim skirt for evening with another of the season’s standout pieces:the sculptural white shirt.A statement necklace adds the requisite polish for a night out.
Keep your outfit office-appropriate with a pussybow blouse and low heels. The key here is moderation: If you’re showing a little leg, keep your top conservative.
THE PRINTED BOOT
No question: This season’s standout shoe was the mid-calf boot, ornamented with some extra decoration.
Black skinny jeans allow celestial boots to be the star.Don’t add a competitive print, but play with texture up top instead (and proportions-the bigger the coat, the better).
Printed boots take a sleeveless dress from boho to sophisticated, especially when paired with elegant earrings.
A patterned boots elevate an all-black look. On top, a bodysuit is a polished alternative to a chunky sweater.(Work in a conservative office? Add a blazer as needed.)
